CUSTOMER RESOURCES

Make the paperwork part of the plan.

A general checklist for international consignments.

Common documents

Requirements vary by item, shipment route and applicable legislation. The list below is a starting point, not legal or customs advice.

  • Commercial invoice: clear goods description, seller/buyer details, value and relevant terms.
  • Packing list: piece count, package contents, dimensions and weights.
  • Transport document: as appropriate for road, air or ocean freight.
  • Commodity information: classification, origin and any specific product declarations.
  • Permits/certificates: where goods or destination rules require them.
  • Importer/exporter details: including identifiers required by the jurisdiction.

What happens next?

Documents are reviewed by the relevant parties and declarations submitted by the appropriately authorised person or representative. Clearance times and decisions remain with authorities, and extra documents may be requested.

Never accept an unexpected third-party payment instruction as proof of a legitimate customs demand. Verify any charges through an independent official or contracted channel.
